Pull straps on livewell doors broken

Both the pull straps on the livewell doors of my Nitro Z7 are broken and I have to use a screwdriver to get one side open so the other side can be opened. What should I use to make new pull straps out of? Looks like the straps are secured by a phillips screw on each door.

You can find it everywhere. Make holes and seal the cut ends with heat, like a torch. Heat a piece of steel red hot for the holes. Hold it with vice grips.

Find an old backpack, cut 10" off the end of each adjustment strap. voila! New pull loops, and you can probably still use the backpack.

That is the best idea. I have lots of straps for tackle bags that I don't use. Thanks.

Yes. Or cut some from a boat cover strap or 1" ratchet strap. Look around, bet you have something hanging around.

Got to Hobby Lobby or a craft store they have it in stock. Use a wood burning tool with the round tip to make the holes and it will singe them at the same time. Use the old ones as an example. I laid mine out and made it one inch longer overall, which made it half an inch longer when folder....helps with larger fingers.

I use a soldering iron to "cut" the nylon webbing and to burn a hole for the screw. Melts the webbing and prevents fraying. I keep a roll of black nylon webbing around for various projects and repairs. Redid all the compartment pulls on the boat a few months ago. Easy and fast. Don't like things breaking, especially out on the water.

I took a broken ratchet strap and made pulls for all my boxes. The wider the strap, easier on the fingers.

Seat belts, preferably out of a junker and not your daily ride.

Did this with my old boat with spare life jacket straps. Used small stainless steel nuts and bolts to secure them to the front of the lids, still holding up after more than 10 years.
