    Question Charlevoix in early August?

I'm going to take my soon to be 14yr old son on a long weekend for some smallie fishing up north. Last year we went to St.Clair @ Algonac and had a blast, but i may avoid it with all the high water, etc. Can't decide between Charlevoix, Torch, Elk, etc... Anyone have some recommendations? This will be our 2nd annual Dude Trip, and looking for somewhere new. Thanks in advance!

I'd go to Grand Traverse Bay personal, we put in at Elk Rapids or East Grand Traverse Bay depending on the wind.

The water around Algonac is about a foot higher than last year for your reference.

The smallmouth are showing up now like they always do when the river gets to 70 degrees. It just happened sooner this year than normal.

Charlevoix can be tough in the summer.
