    Best screen size for livescope?

Is it like side imaging the bigger the better? Mostly using it for livescope next to my Helix 12. Thanks!

I run mine on a 10” screen also and it works fine. I have never used a 12” screen so I cannot compare. If I was betting I would bet on the 12” being better. If enough better for the distance that most actually fish using the Livescope I’m not sure the extra cost and size is worth it.

The 8612 would have better picture quality based on the specs on Garmin's website.

    8612 is 1920 x 1080 pixels

    1222 is 1280 x 800 pixels

Keep in mind the ultra’s and 8600’s have the new ips screen thats supposed to be brighter. Havent played with them myself but most likely will help. especially in bright sun.

I've got 8612xsv units and they are awesome in direct blazing sun and late in the middle of the night. And with polarized lenses as well. Pricey, but do everything and then some. Viewing angle is incredible too.

I really love the screen and the resolution on my Ultra 1222 as compared to the 93sv plus. I've also been in a boat with a gps 1242 for comparison. I like the Ultra best.

Just a point for discussion, but I watched a crappie pro discussing his Garmin 8616 on his bow. The screen, which must be glass, has a couple of rather pronounced cracks running thru it. He says he thinks it is from being bow-mounted and the wave pounding the unit incurs. I have no idea, just sharing

Here’s the deal, bigger is better and bigger is more expensive. I have a 9inch that cost $600 and works great for LiveScope. Now I could spend $1,800 and get a 12 inch but that is $1,200 more than what I paid for the 9inch. The 9inch also takes up less room making it easier to deploy the trolling motor.

    j791,
Or you could just get rid of the Lowrance unit and the 9 inch Garmin and replace it with a 12 inch Garmin, :)
Really since I've installed Livescope on the bow I absolutely have no need for mapping, 2d, DI or anything else. Get me within about 100 feet of anything that I want to fish and Livescope gives me the best information LIVE.

That's how I feel up to a point. I do want good mapping, then once I get to where I want to go safely, I Livescope and watch the fun begin.

I mark the waypoints at the console. I then run up to the bow and use the Lowrance 12 to find the waypoints on the map. Once near the waypoint, I can then use LiveScope to pinpoint the spot I want to fish. The 9inch is dedicated to LiveScope so I get more screen than if I had a single 12 that utilized both mapping and LiveScope. The Lowrance bow unit also has an active imaging 3-in-1 transducer with side-imaging which comes in handy.
