How many hours are owners getting out of this motor? Of course I know it depends on how well taken care of they are but I’m looking at a well taken care of 250 with 800 hours for 9800$. Does this seem high priced and does it still have a lot of life left in the motor
Its very hard to say without knowing the exact service history and having the engine checked out by a certified Yamaha tech. Bass boat owners tend to be very hard on these engines.... warm up, cool down and service is critical. I see far more failures in the bass boat market because those things (especially warm up and cool down) are very often ignored. In the offshore market, I regularly see Yamaha 4.2's with several thousand hours on them (all Yamaha 4.2 engines use an identical powerhead).
