Nice!
Are they wired with running lights? On a switch?
Very nice!
Another question - is Illinois a state where they are legal?
No. It's not legal for highway use in Illinois. I use them for loading. I do leave them on when in the campground though.
getting ready to do mine this weekend, any pointers would be appreciated especially when it comes to what you used to imbed the lights into the boards (silicone maybe). Thanks. I know there is a discussion somewhere on BBC when drew or anther person did theres that had some great info - I just cannot seem to find it. Thanks.
I used untreated, kiln dried, 2x6 pine that I painted with roll on enamel (at the recommendation of GatorBak CS). Prior to painting, I ran the boards lengthwise through a table saw with a dado-blade wide enough and just deep enough to lay the LED strips in to create a flush application. After painting, I laid a bead of clear silicone in the "trench" to secure the lighting. I used the ultra cheap waterproof LED strips from Amazon simply due to cost (I used a bunch of lights). The cost was less than $100 for all the lights on the trailer. I applied silicone to every connection simply because I know you get what you pay for, and wanted them to be as waterproof as possible. They've held up well so far....
Making the bunks, and installing the GatorBaks was simply and quick (except for waiting on the paint to dry). The toughest part was running the wiring and securing the under glow. I'm very OCD, and had to get creative for that.
here are some pics of a previous install of the earlier version clear bunks

I used this setup for my trailer LED strips. I took the controller part apart and used conformal on it so it's waterproofed. It's mounted toward the front of the trailer so I don't think it'll ever get dunked and it's in a concealed area so it won't get much road spray either. The remote is RF, so it works from in the vehicle. And the dimmer part is pretty slick too. Don't have pics of it just yet, but something else to consider.
