Fuse blowing on motor after stopping and trying to start motor again
I've got a friend that has a 2013 40 hp Mercury four stroke. He was on the water last week and ran to a spot and cut his motor off. When he got ready to move again, the motor and trim were dead. He found a blown fuse. Ran to another spot. Same thing when he tried to crank up again. He headed in and a thunderstorm came up and he got in a boathouse. Motor would not start. Finally had to get towed in. At home, he can crank and restart the motor over and over with no problem. We think a short somewhere, but can't find any wires touching or bare. Any ideas?

Hello Jyard,
My first guess would be charge system problem... It seem that you only get the problem at higher rev's. I would check voltage reg, rectifier and then work my way back to the stator. Also if you do not have a service manual for your eng .....get one. Cheaper then a service call and has great info.
