SIMPLE NMEA-2000 NETWORK LAYOUT- FOR SMARTCRAFT USE

BELOW, please find a picture showing a sample (and simple) NMEA-2000 Network Layout. Similar components are available in the Lowrance NMEA-2000 Starter Kit (which can be used when networking a L1 MercMonitor or a VesselView Link to your NMEA-2000 Compatible Display, GPS or Graph.

NOTE: SMARTCRAFT NETWORK and DEVICE are required (shown are ONLY the basic NMEA-2000 tees, resistors, and Power Node).

I would also like to add... The L1 MercMonitor wire harness has leads to provide power through its connection to the network, which if used eliminates the need for the dedicated T and power node at the center of Don's picture above.

Technically, yes... but only suitable for a short-distance (and very simple) network. Most will either:

    1. Have a NMEA-2000 Network in place already

    (OR)

    2. Purchase a NMEA-2000 Network Starter Kit.

Wanted to get this up for a simple reference since there are so many that seem to be trying to connect "tees" directly to the back of NMEA-2000 devices.

We are going to need to move this to a separate thread for your specific engine/setup. Your kit is either missing items, or you have mis-stated what included.

    You should have:

    2@ Tees
    2@ Terminating Resistor
    1@ Power Node
    1@ Short cable
    1@ Long Cable

When you order a New/Current Product MercMonitor (L1, L2 or L3), it comes with another TEE and Terminating Resistor. It's harness is already equipped with a NMEA-2000 cable that should be long enough to reach a tee setup under your console.
