4 new batteries and hole shot is gone 2009 201 EVO

    Went from 3 x 27 series and a 1 x 29 cranking to:

    3 x 31 flooded
    1 x 31 AGM

    Running 250 HO / 25p Croxton Razor 4 / 6" jp / 3" ptp

I filled the livewells and no go! Takes forever to roll over as I drain LW water, but I can eventually get going and still turn 5800 at 70 mph

I think that I may have to drop jp down 1/4 or 1/2"

Here is the plug set up at the leading edge of each blade (2 plugs per blade), with the first plug being closest to the hub:

    1) open - 1/2 opened
    2) 1/2 opened - closed
    3) open - 1/2 opened
    4) 1/2 opened - closed

The prop won't spool up and the boat is very sluggish.

    Thoughts?

Start yanking plugs out until you blow it out.

It blew out after one plug. Gonna lower the motor 1/4" and start there.

Not a good idea adjust P to P for hole shot issues. Engine height should be set for best top speed and handling, If you are not with in a 100 rpm of the limiter, repair or replace with a prop that will first, then adjust venting as required

Roughly 80 lbs added at the stern affected holeshot that much? Start with increasing the venting so it can spool up. If it spools up and still doesn't holeshot, send the prop in for added cup for more bite.

Too late. I replaced the two plugs that I took out and dropped it down a 1/2" and the boat slowly rolled over after 50' or so. Top end handling was terrible after 65 mph/5200 rpm.

I tried that as per the above, didn't work. Maybe I'll go up a 1/4", then play with the plugs. Maybe I should vent with 1/2 opened plugs instead of removing full plugs?

Yeah you went too far, now you tweak it back until you find the best you've got. That hull has always been a holeshot slug, adding that much weight isn't going to help.

You may have to drop down in pitch, Marks razor 4 is stiff and may be too much prop now.

Mine was ok until I added the Talons, new and bigger batteries, and MK 460D charger.

I would suggest you call mark and discuss it with him, will get the correct answer a lot faster that way. No one knows his prop and how to get it right better than he does
    Thank You Leon Pugh

... and Mark hasn't responded to emails or phone calls.

I found a smoking deal on a new Atlas HJP 12", but thinks it may be too much set back for this boat.

    Pundits weigh in, please.

Right now you have a prop issue that needs attention.
And I’ve never seen more setback improve holeshot. Usually the opposite.
