    Transducer placement

Hey guys, I looked through the Stratos boats installs to see where I should put this transducer but all of them have jack plates. My boat is a 2005 Stratos 486sf. Below is a picture of my transom. I purchased a Helix 7 Chirp MEGA SI GPS G3N and the transducer is XNT 9 HW MSI 150. First boat, first install, pretty much first for everything

It is best to do the proper installation for your particular hull.
Number one thing is to install a shoot-thru 2D transducer in the bilge--XP 9 HW.
Then attach the SI transducer where the temp sensor in the picture is. That will have it above the hull bottom and do Imaging at idle speed.
Connect the two transducers to the display with the 9 M SIDB Y cable.

I'll send you a couple of pictures in a PM shortly.

See attached for Humminbird recommended placement for the newer huge SI & DI transducers. Per their recommendation, they shouldn't be in contact with the water when on plane. That is why Wayne is recommending a separate high speed 2D transducer and Y Cable.

Most people, myself included, have the SI/DI transducer installed so that it does come in contact with the water when on plane in hopes of getting a reading when under way... that is hit or miss.
