4 new batteries and hole shot is gone 2009 201 EVO

    Went from 3 x 27 series and a 1 x 29 cranking to:

    3 x 31 flooded
    1 x 31 AGM

    Running 250 HO / 25p Croxton Razor 4 / 6" jp / 3" ptp

I filled the livewells and no go! Takes forever to roll over as I drain LW water, but I can get going still and turn 5800 at 70 mph

I think that I may have to drop jp down 1/4 or 1/2"

Here is the plug set up at the leading edge of each blade (2 plugs per blade), with the first plug being closest to the hub:

    1) open - 1/2 opened
    2) 1/2 opened - closed
    3) open - 1/2 opened
    4) 1/2 opened - closed

    Thoughts?

If you are not slipping badly during hole shot try opening the other two holes. If the prop will not bite then add one plug back and try again.

Thanks, man... I wasn't sure how the plugs work. So, you're saying that adding plugs adds bite, and removing plugs adds slip... correct? My prop is not spooling up fast enough, it's very sluggish.

... so you made me look!

needs to be vented to spool up to 3500-3800 on hole shot fully tucked and motor height at correct spot- opening holes means more rpm's sealing holes means less rpm's- 3-3.5 ok usually on a stratos. i run 3.25 or close all the time. i have 8 holes and run 6 wide open and 2 small openings and no slipping and rpms about perfect. pull all but 2 to wide open and no plugs and retry it. in summer heat it needs venting but might have to close one or two in cooler weather

OK... so I'll drop a 1/4" and leave two half plugs to start. Is that what you mean?

(Our water temp is about 72* on the lake.)

    Thanks!

Hydraulic jack plates really help dial in the sweet spot as optimum performance is always changing based upon load, distribution of weight, water conditions, etc... The 201 has a lot of hull to clear but typically runs good once she has broke free. My last three 201's where all alike in that aspect.

Ya, I know. I had a chance to switch the 8" hjp from my trade-in to this one, but I was worried that the pump on the hjp was on its way out, so I declined.

    Grrrrrr....
