My only question is, is the integrated UHD ducer upgradeable over time? Looks pretty sweet though.

As of yet, no. I don't know if it will or not. It does have a heading lock where you can set it on 'cruise control' at a designated heading.

50" and 57"........is that just the shaft length, or does it include the head too? Seems pretty long.

On its surface I expected more from Garmin. Although I am sure it is well built it is bulky. Nothing about this makes it a must buy right off the bat especially considering the price. I expected that they would have auto stow and deploy and the ability to stow manually without hassle unlike the ulterra. This is strictly my opinion but auto stow and deploy is the future and I figured Garmin would knock that out of the park. Im sure this is going to be a well build less buggy unit than others but in my opinion its not a game changer or a must have. Its nice that they integrated UHD into the head but I cant imagine image quality will be amazing with the head constantly turning and it being in the part of the boat that moves the most.

I agree - brushless motors are not a "new" technology, so for an entry point ~$800 over the Ultrex (80/45 non-link), I would expect more features... ie. auto-deploy (don't even need auto stow) - not less (no contour follow.. at a price that is still ~$400 more than the link version of the 80/45 Ultrex). Interesting.... we'll see how all of this shakes out. At any rate, it keeps me from being in a hurry and feeling like I have to shell out $2500.

Strange that the (2) new trolling motors - which are completely new product categories for both companies - have come out at exactly the same price point at the same time. .... hmmm.....

    - hopefully Motorguide has not been in on those conversations (that never took place), and will come out with a product and price that will kill all others. hahaha... that would just take the cake.

Anyone know if you can mark a spot on livescope and this will go to it and anchor?

So now that you can talk about it, How is Livescope handled with it? I really would have thought that garmin would have had a plan on separating transducer rotation from shaft rotation.

Well, I've had LiveScope on a trolling motor shaft since before the beginning. I still have no reason to move it off the TM. Obviously when you are in anchor mode the shaft turns making it move almost continuously. All I do is take it off anchor, look where I want to and put it back on anchor if I want to stay there. Takes only a second or two.
