    G2 spark plug change

With approx. 120 hours and a boatload of idle time on my G2, it seems like it might now be idling a bit rougher than when new. I’m thinking about installing new plugs, but I’m stumped about the port side lower plug, which is partially blocked by the cover shroud. I’ve seen the techs installing new plugs on a G2, and they disassemble a whole bunch of stuff to get to that plug. Is there an easier way? For one thing, I don’t have a tool to insert in the hex-shaped plug at the back of the engine, so I’d either need to buy one or fabricate one if I want to start taking all that stuff off at home. I don’t mind paying the dealer to do necessary jobs, but it would take me weeks to get into the shop at this point in the season, so I’m looking at alternatives, if there are any. Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide. 2018 G2 225 H.O.

I know on the dark side I have one port side plug that requires removing the lower cowling. I have done it without removing, but the thought of repairing the block due to my heavy fingers has made me change my mind.

Be sure to get the Champion plugs with the letter A at the very end, after the letter I. They are an improved type from Champion that are now being installed in the new engines coming off the production line.

I have a 2019 200G2. I buddy of mine has a 250g2. He had to change his plus due to idling. Our dealer ran it as a warranty item as no maintenance is needed for 500 hours. Rude stepped up and paid all cost

Good to know. Mine is not quite a “have to” yet, and I’m not inclined to take advantage of warranty until necessary. That said, my dealer may suggest that they warranty a set, and who am I to argue?
