    Question Ranger new-188P vs 198P

Any of you wanna offer and insight on a comparison of the ranger rt198p vs the new rt188p. If you can’t offer any comparisons on the new 188p then compare to the regular 188. Just looking for pro’s, con’s, is the 2” wider deck on the 198p worth the extra 5,000$, etc. thanks for any and all input!!

    But you didn't have a RT188p.

If I fished bigger water I would get the 198P smaller water 188P. If your on the fence right now just take the hit now and get the 198P very few say they wish the had a smaller boat with less horsepower.

I’m willing to bet that the 188p with the soon to be released 115 G2 is gonna be a big hit!

I recommend driving a couple if that is possible. I drove 2 hours to drive the one I bought, and when I drove it, it was a done deal.

Thats all I got, good luck Sir...
Oh, BTW, I can attest to the room of the 198 being PLENTY. Fishes two loaded guys like a dream. Never been in a 188, but I bet sacrificing a couple inches is a non-issue.

I wonder if you can expect any more speed out of the pad hull vs the original. I imagine they'll ride alittle better as well since it probably carries the V to the back more than the original.

The 188 fishes great. Of course the 198 is a little more stable, but the 188 holds its own.

I agree, with new platform on both the boat and motor, it will be a popular option.

I would expect the 188p to gain at least 3-4 mph over the 188, when equipped with the same motor. My Triton V176Mag was 7-8 mph faster than my RT188 and I swapped over the actual outboard from one boat to the other, but the V176Mag was also about 250 lbs. lighter.

Both are nice layout, and the 198p rides good as I'm assuming the 188p will as well, but the biggest problem is it's another underpowered tin rig it's basically a 19' boat with a 115 can you say slug, xpress is the only pad hull aluminum rig that can be put up against glass boats in just about every category, the new Lund looks sweet, and basscat/sea ark both pad hulls and rated for a 200-250
