    03 ChampioN 206 Restore

Hey guys, this is a theft recovery insurance buy from auction. I paid 250.00 for the hull but had to find away to get in home, so I found a used 797 Charger trailer that the bed material was coming off 2014 model trailer. Had to get the bunks moved and rewelded after I got it home. It was pretty much stripped, basically just lids and a hull. Gel wasn't in too bad of shape so a good wet sanding and she looked new. As most now about me I am not a carpet fan, it has to be the worst thing ever to put on a boat. My last project I did Safefloor and it was ok, hard as a rock and taking a knee on it was like kneeling on small rocks. So I looked into hydroturf, loved the product but was limited on colors due to needing a large sheet in order to cover the front deck in one piece. Camo color and solid was my only choices, camo is best for hiding seems and dirt but the only one close to this boats color wheel was blue camo. Again not for everybody so keep your negative comments to yourself, just want to show everybody there is a different option other than carpet. I had to custom make all the missing panels and had them hydro dipped. The boat turned out really nice! Instead of posting a ton of pics I just put them on a video to show start to finish. Got any questions fire away!

    Here are all the pics:

    And the finished boat:

Very very nice, I must admit the blue camo wouldn't be my first choice but the more I watched the videos the more it grew on me, I really like how it looks on the trailer. A couple of questions,
1- Why did you not have the foot pedal well dipped also?
2- Are you keeping this one?

1-Great question, I took the top and bottom of the power pole pieces to have them done. I bought these for a great price from a fellow BBC member but unfortunately those 2 pieces where purple! He said the shape of the parts would distort the hydro image so bad you really could not tell what it would be. Same with the hot foot so IDK, never hydro dipped anything? I may add some hydroturf to it tho.
    2. YES!.......Maybe.......No.....I'm keeping it........Defiantly keeping! Maybe

Yes, took it to Hefner. She ran 60 @ 5000 rpms with my two oldest boys and my fat butt. I have a 25 Raker I'm gonna try, got some kinks to work out but nothing serious. Rides like a Cadillac, better then my Z21. She is tippy though

Good God Frank that is pure sweetness! I like hydroturf selection. Adding the $250 initial acquisition price what was you’re all in final cost? Great work.

Nice! If you don’t mind me asking what source did you use to find the hull, and any issues other than it being stripped down?

iaai.com, most major cities has a site. This one came up here in OKC, and it was there almost a year before it was put on the auction block. As far as any issues no, just stripped. Had some battle scars under on the hull but nothing serous. Most of the scratches came from the front end loader with giant forks that they slid under the hull to load it on my trailer.

Usually they list why the insurance sent them to iaai (flood damage, fire, theft recovery, damage/accident) I tend to watch for theft recovery because the hulls are in great shape. Missed out on a 2010 Stratos in TN that sold for 5,000, it was the trailer and hull theft recovery. Boat was in perfect condition! Then I found the Champion hull. Just got to stay on the site and watch what comes in for auction.

    I like it! Great job.
I just received some samples from seadeck. Seams to be ok stuff, pricey though.

    Some questions -
    1. Did you buy the boat from Insurance auto auctions? If so, do you need a dealers license ?

    2. Who did you buy the hydroturf from? I was just on their site, couldn't find many colors. Found some other color options on either amazon or ebay though.
