Marking Waypoints on Helix - Double click?

Was marking many items this past weekend and guess I haven't paid much attention but noticed I have to always double press the mark button.

Is there a way to turn this off so that it is just a single click?

You quickly push the MARK button. Hold it to take a snapshot.

    In the manual:
To mark a waypoint at the boat position, Press the Mark key.
To mark a waypoint at the cursor position, Press the Mark key twice.

If the cursor is active, like when you are marking something on a sonar view, you have to press twice.

Got a G3 on my desk, one quick button push marks a waypoint either at the boat position or where the curser is moved. If I push the Mark button twice a pop-note states "waypoint already exists at this location". Just did several.

Did you try it in a sonar view? That isn't what the manual says - see page 71, 98, 116, 153, there may be more. I just got mine, so I've been studying the manual when not fishing.

It isn't surprising; I have never seen a manual for a fishing electronics product that was written worth a rip, or was not full of mistakes and typos, and HB's are no exception.

Two of the ones I did were with the full screen 2D view.

THUD! <--- the sound of my printed Helix manual hitting the trash can. What a joke. They probably fixed this in a long-ago upgrade and never update the manual.

No one reads those anyway, that's why the forums are full of folks with basic questions. So why does OP need to press his twice? I'd try mine, but the boat is in the garage and its too hot to go to the lake.

I'll check some of my other Helix units and see what they do.

The unit above is the Helix 7 CHIRP MEGA SI GPS G3.

Just did the Helix 10 CHIRP MEGA DI+ GPS G3N. A single Mark button push brings up a menu to chose the curser position, vessel position, do SpotLock, or Record Track. Two pushes gets the same pop-up about waypoint already exists.

The first generation Helix 12 CHIRP SI GPS gets the menu for a waypoint/spotlock/track with a single push and creates a waypoint on the second push.
If you right arrow with the Waypoint selection, it creates a waypoint. Second push gets the waypoint already exists. The H 10 does that also, had to reconnect the 10 to verify.

Sooooo, yes it takes two Mark button pushes to just mark a waypoint and not do the menu thing with the first button push.

I tell you what I've been doing the last few months is printing out all these threads you guys are discussing about these units and have a good pile, reading over them. Just got my two new helix 10's installed and mounted the other day, need to get some wiring made up, Install transducers and I'll be good to go. Great info here on this site.

Version 1.35 changed Snapshot and changed how to create waypoints using Mark
    o Snapshot Functionality
    - Snapshots are now captured by using Mark (Press & Hold)
    - Taking a snapshot will no longer laydown a waypoint unless you turn on Screen Snapshot Waypoint under the Accessory Tab

    o Added Mark Menu
    - Pressing Mark with an active cursor will now bring up a new menu which gives the user the option to mark a waypoint at the cursor or mark a waypoint at the vessel position
    - You can also double press Mark to quickly lay down a waypoint at the cursor

HB, this is very confusing! Inconsistent behaviors.
