First off, dont hold you breath on Nov/Dec. They have been saying this for the last 5-6 years. Secondly, just going back to late last year the water clarity was incredible, like gin clear throughout the whole reservoir. The fishing was beyond belief. Then the FWC just couldn't leave things alone and got in there with there atomic juicer and spray boats. Now the water has less then 10" visibility and hasn't improved any since the first of the year. Hardly anyone fishes it right now.

Another one they destroyed. Can't even blame home owners for wanting it sprayed. Wish they could leave things alone.

Fellsmere, despite the post on this thread, is still producing plenty of good fish even with the poor water clarity. It's still kayak only but those that are getting out there are putting some quality fish in the kayaks regularly.

True, but nowhere near the numbers of fishermen or fish as before. I've fished it a lot.

No vehicle access, you need to carry or dolly thru a 3 ft opening at the locked gate. Its about 300 yards to the water edge. Would be difficult to paddle the distance needed in a john boat.

This is only the beginning. If they continue to kill weeds, the fishing will get worse every year. Happens in every lake in every state that weeds are eliminated.

I’m saying November/December because I called the state and asked them on the phone when it will be open. They are in the final stages of permitting.

Word I got is that the algae bloom is pretty bad out there right now. Kayakers are getting rashes from water contact and apparently the fumes are causing vomiting due to how heavy it is.

I see that the contract to build the ramp has been awarded, and the algae bloom warnings have been issued.

Don't everyone get too excited, they have been promising the ramp for the last 5-6 years, don't underestimate the shear incompetence of the people running this.

The article states that they gave them the OK to buy the land needed for parking, not that it had been bought, so I have to agree with rocknemo, because the developer will probably raise the price on the land now that he knows they have money to buy it. Sad state of affairs.
On the other hand, the developer may have a tougher time selling land that is next to a body of water that has blue green algae blooms in it. Don't think I would want to live there.
