I'm curious then, will we not use the stock SI transducer at all when connecting the 360 mega?

Yes, if you want DI, 2D, and Temp. Takes the Y cable to connect both.

The FAQ's say when the Mega 360 is connected the SI will now come from the 360 ..... which will create an issue if you are needing to connect it to the console unit.

You SHARE the MEGA 360 via Ethernet to other units. Same as you would share SI/DI/2D/Temp/GPS to other units with the Network menu.
It just not like the current 360 that is a separate Ethernet connection.

I was just trying to show that the SI will not be available from the regular transducer on the unit that the Mega 360 is connected to ... If you want SI for that unit it will have to be shared from somewhere else ... or gotten from the 360. The 360 Y cable will disconnect the piezos in the SI transducer when it is connected ....kinda the same way the 2D is now disconnected from a SI tranducer and derived from the other 2D transducer if a Y cable is connected.

So then I'm confused how the mega360 is compatible with a Helix DI+ g3n or Solix DI+ G2n unit.
Wouldn't the unit need to utilize SI in any case?

Apparently they have included the drivers for the Mega 360 in the mega + di units ..... at least that is all I can think of that makes sense.

So it would seem the ideal equipment configuration is a DI+ bow unit with MDI transducer built into the TM and the Mega360 strapped onto it.
Then no additional ethernet up front with the addition of the 360 and now you have 360. If you also want SI up front, then go with a SI+ unit instead.

Yes, that would work, but you can do SI with the MEGA 360 the same way as with the current 360. Just a different connection.

Just have to wait and see if the MEGA 360 as a SI transducer is better than the current 360 used for SI.

I don't imagine if using a DI+ unit with a mega360 attached, you would be able to use the 360 as a SI source.

I do imagine you can since it can be done with the current 360 and a DI or 2D only model.

The difference is the MEGA 360 can only be used with a DI or SI model=has to have MEGA+ Imaging.

Time will tell .... they do let the Solix 2d units do DI

Just did these two screen snapshots in my garage.

This is the Network menu for a Helix 10 CHIRP MEGA DI+ GPS G3N.
It has a SI column because I had used it networked with a Helix 12 CHIRP SI GPS.
It has a 360 column because I had used it networked with a 360.

Same unit with the SI source choices. I had the 360 connected and powered so it shows as a SI source and also shows it had been connected to the H12 SI unit as a SI source.

Same goes for me using 360 for SI on a 10 MDI g2n, a 7 MDI g3n, and a 9 MSI g2n. I play with my electronics a bit and just for heck of it tried using 360 on all of them networked. I would think the mega 360 will be no different in its overall networkable capabilities, but Wayne will test it out for us!!!

Agreed, because I can also use my current 360 to have SI on a plain sonar GPS unit.
However in the case with Mega360, the question will be does the DI+ unit, or plain GPS sonar unit for that matter, have the hardware capability to drive a SI transducer.
It certainly appears the mega+ unit will drive the SI signal through the mega360 pod instead of how the current 360 is a standalone unit.

The current G3N DI+ will not do SI with a SI transducer, there is no Connected Transducer setting for any version of SI. It may AFTER a software is released to make it compatible with the MEGA 360.

As far as a G3N 2D unit, it already is NOT going to be compatible with the MEGA 360. It is not included in the list of compatible units. Compatible units are stated in post #1 first section.

Oh crap! Got to upgrade a depth finder and get one. Awesome pics that don’t come close to my 360 even tho it does a great job. The images are so much better.
