    Mercury fuel additives

I've seen recommendations for both Mercury QuicKleen and Mercury QuickCare. Some say one or the other and some say use both at the same time. So, what does Mercury recommend? My motor is a 2012 150 Opti ProXs and it has had non-ethanol fuel since it was new. It is used once or twice a month year round in Florida.

Since you're running ethanol free fuel, I'd just use a stabilizer. Especially since you're only fishing 1-2 times a month.

Use both 1oz per 10 gallons of fuel.

I mix both and run them straight. I figure gas is causing the problem so I eliminated it entirely.

Side note is it ok to run gas that has been treated with QuickLeen and QuickCare in my truck? I've got $100 in gas sitting in my boat with a ruined lower unit

Don't see why it would hurt to run it in your truck. None of those products actually do anything

I mix 8 ounces of Quickleen, and 4 ounces of Quickare in an empty 12 ounce bottle, and keep it handy for fill-ups. Doesn’t take as much Quickare as Quickleen. No sense in wasting it. I run non-ethanol only, but my 2007 Opti runs like new. No sense in changing anything. I add QuickStor or Sta-Bil in winter if my boat sits longer than usual.

    Use both.

You may want to go over to the Mercury board and read some of the info from European Marine.

Mercury says no additives are needed. *But they still sell them!!

If you look at what's in them and the concentration mix levels you can make an intelligent decision.

I try and remember to change out my primer bulb once a year. Next time you do so, cut the old bulb in half and check the inner wall of the old bulb. Use your thumb nail to scrape the wall of that bulb. You'll never fail to use an additive after that.

You mean that running kerosene in my gas at a ratio of 1,280:1 ain't a magic cure all? Well just slap me silly
