    70 hp Yamaha va Mercury

I have a RT178c Ranger and it is limited to a 75 hp motor so engine selection is really important to me. I like the weight comparison of the Yamaha because I like shallow water fishing. How does the Yamaha perform power wise compared to a Mercury 60 or 75 hp motor. Any other ccoparisions regarding the Yamaha vs the Mercury for shallow water would be appreciated, sun as how deep the motor sets in the water or how it manuvers when the motor is trimmed up.

I don't see where Mercury is now making a 70 hp motor. They do make a 1 liter 60 hp that's the same displacement as Yamaha's 50-60-70 hp motors. Mercury's 75 hp motor is 2.1 liters or twice the displacement as 70 hp. Although the 75 hp Mercury weights substantially more, torque would be so much better.
