Javelin experts...Is it the 400 or the 409 that was coveted?

As written above...researching...in multiple articles its listed as the 400 series hull is well liked but does that include or is it the 409 series that was well liked?

The Javelin 400 was an excellent hull. In the early years of production the were simply called Javelin 400. In 1999 they redesigned the top cap and rename the hull Renegade 20. In 2002 when OMC went bankrupt Javelin and Straotos were sold together. The new owners phased out the Javelin brand but they kept the 400 hull in production and named it Stratos 200...With a properly set-up 225 they were a mid to upper 70's ride that rode like a Cadillac but handled like a sports car on rails.

    Javelin Renegade 20
    Stratos 200

All have the same hull just a different top cap lay out.

JR19....Going back through the years the 400 (1995-2002) was 19.83 ft and the stratos 200 (2006-2007) was 20.1 ft is it considered the same hull?

where does the 409 fit in? Is the 409 the same as the 201?

I done a little digging and it appears my information about the Javelin 400/R20 and the Stratos 200 being the same hull is incorrect. I would have bet $ that I have read multiple times that the Javelin 400/R20 and Stratos 200 had the same hull but they are indeed a different length. Javelin 400/R20 is 19ft 10 in and the Stratos 200 is 20 ft 1 in.

I do however still feel confident that the Javelin 400 and Renegade 20 are the same hull. If you look at the history of Javelin they redone the top cap lay out on their popular model of bass boats n 1999 and re-named them Renegade. The Javelin 400 became known as the Renegade 20 in 1999,2000 and 2001...in 2002 OMC bankrupt and the company who bought them along with Stratos dissolved the brand but continued production with Stratos.

I have no idea about the 409. I have head of it but I am not familiar with it. I tried doing a google search on the 409 and only came up with vague information.

Here is the specifications for the 1999-2001 Renegade 20 which should be the old 400...https://web.archive.org/web/20000311...asp?BOAT_ID=75

JR19...was not trying to prove you wrong just trying to do proper research. The 409b was 20.08 foot, the 400 was 19.83 feet, the stratos 200 was 20.1 and the 201 20.6 feet. I find it interesting that they each are just inches different.

It has been thought that the Stratos 200 was the old Jav 400 / R20 hull. Your research may actually show us that the 200 is actually the 409 hull. Both are known to be great hulls and I'd be proud to have either.

Very possible because what limited info I find on the 409 shows it 20 ft 1 in and the Stratos 200 was also 20 ft 1 in based on my limited research...and I agree the 400/R20 and 409 were both great hulls.

With my 17' 3" hull being pushed by a 115 I'd take any of them, and a garage they'd fit in.

I am just a fan...I appreciate the comments I was so confused when I saw all the lengths and that they were just a few inches different YET they were ALL (389, 400, 409, and stratos 200, 201) great hulls.

I ran a Javelin 400 for almost 14 years....loved that rig. I originallt bought it with a 150 Johnson and later upgraded to a 2.5 Mercury 200 EFI. Ran well with a 150.

I had a 92 409T, it was much deeper and wider than my 2007 201pxl...
Was an AWSOME hull, rode great in rough water. Wasn’t near as nimble as the 201...

The 400 hull ran like a 19ft boat . It was a runner and set up correct you would have to drive it , Thats why it stayed around as long as it did .
They let it go to sell more 201's during low sells .

Everyone is getting to carried away with length defining the hull. The primary hull geometry was identical for both boats while under the OMC umbrella. Subtle adjustments to the nose and sponsons added or deducted inches but from the rub rails down, there is very little difference between them.

400 javelin = 200 Pro xl. Just stretched the nose and rear to get boat over 20’. 200 Pro xl was my favorite stratos of all time!

So....the Javelin 409 and the stratos 200xl are the same length....where did you find info. that is saying the 400 is the 200xl hull?

Again, forget about OAL. The differences are above the running surface but below the rub rail. The molds where massaged at the nose and at the sponsons.

I have a 2002 stratos 200 javelin series. Sitting on javelin trailer. I have searched and not found much info on 2002 200. It’s not a pro xl. Is this the last javelin?

Same color scheme as my 2000 R20, it's really the same boat. You should be running a 26 Trophy on that rig if the motor is strong. Use the #200 Michigan Wheel hub kit for the Merc props.
I'm at 73.1 MPH with mine and know I can do more if I start making JP adjustments but I'm to lazy and good with what I got.
I assume the photo is from when it was new?

Photo last week. 240 hrs in motor. It came with a 26 txp 3-blade. Pretty worn and not much lift. 65-66mph. Put a 25 powertech rkr4. I have a magnum 1 lower. I think that is what is slowing it down. Is this hull the same as 200 pro xl?
