    oil pressure

    Coming back from the lake sat temp outside 90. Stop and go traffic oil pressure went to 10 lbs. pulled over checked oil good on stick. Motor smelled hot got back in started back up oil pressure back to 40 lbs. Drove home about 30 miles stayed around 40 lbs. When I would go below 65 it would go down to 30 lbs. It is normal around 50 lbs at any speed.It is 5.3 chev 2007 74000 miles.

    The oil pressure switches on 5.3's are notorious for failing. They are also mounted on the moon, as far back on the engine as possible under a lot of crap. Don't be surprised if the pressure doesn't go to 80 then to zero to stay. It will also turn on your engine light.
