    Freeman/tippy river area

Hey guys, 3rd week of july we have a kayak tournament over on the tippy river, they are also opening up lake freeman i believe. I have never been to either of these, but had planned to fish the river, after looking at the public launches it looks like that will be a long float between the 2? Im not asking for a lot of information, but to the guys that have fished both would freeman be a better option? i have heard that the river holds some great smallies, and id hate to pass that up , but i'm not sure how swift the current is, if i would be able to pedal back up to the ramp i put in at?

If on freeman can anyone give some insight to how the bass fishing is there?

    thank you very much!!

Good smallies in the river, given a choice I'd fish above shafer. Otherwise I'd fish below the shafter dam river section on the river section of freeman. Oakdale river stretch is decent, but you need to get down river a bit.
