2019 pro xs very small oil leak

    2b636637. 38 hours
noticed when I went to install vessel view mobile when new wet with oil under air box and on throttle body and starter.
i cleaned it , ran it hard for 4 days and it came back..called dealer tech they believe just assembly lube and grease spinning off crank

pulled air box and cleaned stuff off crank and flywheel and oil filter starter and anything else up top .
    checked after another 10 hrs
    Again it's getting sprayed
maybe its sprayed a teaspoon since new.. not enough that u see drips or runs on inside of cowl but u can see oil on cowl and upper engine parts.
no change on dipstick. dipstick and fill area are dry above airbox

I ran it today on muffs up could only get 140 deg oil temp . had clean papers either side of flywheel no spatter at all.

I have a tourney or vacation every week this summer so do not want to dealer visit and have it down for parts.

just wait till summer over I guess?? would dealer even fix such a small problem??

Engine should not be leaking oil. Since Mercury Fourstroke Oil contains dye- the leak would be fairly easy to find using UV Leak Detection Light and Glasses (you know, a little "CSI" work).

Seems like I read on here that some folks filled oil crankcase up to top line on dip stick which is really an over fill and it caused an oil problem. Make sure your crankcase is not to full.

I spoke with my dealer & he said there will be a service bulletin coming out on a minor oil leak. I think he said it is a faulty seal under the flywheel. My first engine had a bad oil leak @ 4hrs run time & they could not find where it was leaking. Mercury had me a new engine at my dealer within a week.

There is a new top crank seal PN that resolves this issue. Just had mine fixed yesterday. Had exact same symptoms as 12many's did. If you look at the smartcraft gauge, you'll see that these engines run incredibly high oil pressures !!! I'm seeing 86 psi cruising and 91 psi at full throttle. Anyway, new seal PN fixed issue. As always, Mercury tech's and dealer support is exceptional !!!

As with most bulletins- engines in specific serial number ranges may be subject to them (whereas in most cases, engines outside that range are usually not subject).

If you experience any oil leakage, get with your Dealer. They can reference your Serial Number and see if SB 2019-009 and/or 2019-010 apply.

Yeah got my letter yesterday. Pulled the cover off and all is clear. Makes we worry though. Will keep an eye on it.

Just received my letter as well. I changed my oil and filter a few weeks ago and didn't see any leaks. I checked around and made sure everything looked good. Also, after a trip two days ago I was flushing the cooling system and still no sign of a leak. Hope no issues arise.

Easy fix. Flywheel comes off, retaining ring off, pull out seal, replace seal. The powerhead doesn't need to come off or split to change it. Your dealer can do it in less than an hour in most cases

    +1... pretty straightforward.
