If you're buying I'd take a Stella, thank you. If I got tired of it I'd sell it and buy 2 or 3 Stradics with the money. Right now I have a hodge podge of spinning reels on deck, Pfleugers, no-names and a good cheap Chinese reel, Sougayilang for less than $20.00. 11 ball bearings, and I'm cheap, I just wish I kicked one of these overboard a month ago instead of a BPS Pro Qualifier setup.

I sold all my Stellas after I got my first Exist LT, while TT still sold Shimano products. I did that because the Exist LT is a better reel all the way around in my hands. It's lighter, has an incredible smoothness and rigidity, amazing drag, and just fishes better for me. The exclusive lifetime warranty and service plan on Exist LT (US models only) is amazing as well.

Stradic CI4 is my favorite but it kills me paying over 200$ for a spinning reel. So I only have 2 of these.

Quantum Smoke Is my favorite under 200$ (160) I have 4 of these. I have three different generations of them and all are awesome and my oldest one (guessing 5 years) still works as good as the day I got it. Also a great reel for skipping on braid line has strong smooth drag (18-20 pounds on the 25 and 30 model) for horsing fish out from under docks or trees if you cant skip with a baitcaster.

Pflueger's I like they are smooth but have had a few issues. I have had a few presidents and they are a steal, great reel for cheap money. Only problem I had was the reel handle chrome DE-laminated during the second season and flaking of and was cutting me with sharp edges on the chrome, looked online replacement handle was 20$ plus shipping not worth it for that reel. I have a Supreme Xt and that reel is great super smooth great drag but another handle issue. It broke at the the knuckle on the handle had to get replacement handle 20 plus shipping but worth it for this reel for the price. Also have a President XT and this is a great value and has a better handle then the standard president so far I like it a lot.

Patriarch is what I would look at. It has extra spool which is useful.

I think that the Diawa B G is the best bang for the buck for under a $100.

No love for Abu? Their Rocket does a great job of picking up a lot of line. Helps with drop shotting.

Agree 100% on value. I have a Tatula LT and, aside from it being lighter weight, the BG is every bit the reel the Tatula is. I know that weight matters a lot to some and I agree that it's helpful in some instances such as on lighter rods that balance well on their own (usually a shorter rod), but I actually prefer the heavier weight of the BG on the longer rods I have that can get a bit tip heavy. Even really high end rods can get tip heavy when they get up over 7'3" in my experience, a fact that I just think is unavoidable.

Personally I'm not willing to spend the money for top of the line stuff...I have no doubt that it's better, I just can't imagine it being 3-5+ times better to justify paying 3-5+ times more for it. The Tatula is a perfect example of something that costs twice as much as the BG but that certainly isn't twice as good. It's all about what you value, though!

That'd be another check box for the BG. He loves those things, and has a ton of objective reasons why!

My wife and kids got me a Pflueger Presidential reel for fathers day. I have gotten to use it, but it seems really smooth. I am replacing a abugarcia cardinal reel that wasn't the greatest. I also have a shimono spinning reel that I like pretty well.
