Advice: Portable Jump Starter for 2000 Mercury EFI 175hp

So what would be your suggestion for a Portable Jump Starter for a 2000 Mercury EFI 175hp Outboard. I carry a set of jumper cables but have had issues with them using TM batteries. Seems like if the outboard wont turn over fast enough it just wont crank, so I need one that will turn the motor over fast enough to crank it. I need it especially for cold weather and all day fishing with all my accessories running my cranking battery low enough it wont crank.

I really don't need other alternatives...I just need advice which jump starter you know would do the job. I'd rather hear from Personal experience if possible. I really don't want to purchase one not knowing if it would do the job. Thanks.

NOCO Got a GB70 last fall and am very satisfied. A GB40 would do what you want. Neighbor laughed when I brought mine out to start his tractor, then wanted to know where to get one. It is a quality product!

Thanks guys. Noco it is. I keep my boat outside all year covered with boat cover. How long could I leave the GB70 in the boat before I'd need to recharge it?

As long as you want...basically. Lithium batteries don't drain over time like traditional batteries do.

More realistically, I have a "knockoff" branded one that I'll check every few months. It's often down a percent or three and I'll just stick it on the charger for peace of mind, but I think you'd realistically be good almost leaving it indefinitely. Especially since the GB70 is more than enough to crank that motor many times.

So, do you think the GB 70 is what I need or would the 50 or 40 be ok. I do want peace of mind and want what would work the best but don't want to over buy. You know what I mean. Just trying to be wise with my cash...

The 40 would do it without issue. Anything bigger is just peace of mind.

I carry a Weego 66 personally. Jumped my neighbors car this past winter when it was like 10 below. 2500 peak amps, more than the GB70 at half the price.

will stay mostly charged for years but do not leave in boat over winter as I have had some other brands fail this past winter from that same situation
