    O2 system

    Anyone here make their own O2 system for their livewells? if so, how much did it cost ? what parts did you use?

    I’ve been wanting to do it. After working in the hospital for over a year, my fear of oxygen tanks and oxygen itself has been dramatically reduced. Yeah you gotta be aware of what you got, but they’re not the ticking time bomb some guys make them out to be.

    I use the one that is recommended by Texas wildlife as well. VT 2 vents as well!

    I am in the process of doing mine now.

    I bought a tank from Air Gas with O2 for 155.79, swap out tank in the future $18 with Air (each tank should last 10-12 hr days at least this size)
    Keepalive KA970-02 Diffuser for Pure Oxygen Systems - 53.03
    Keepalive KA946 15'Hose - 8.27
    NEW Pediatric Oxygen Tank Regulator 0-4 LPM CGA 540 Post Diss / Barb Outlet NIB- 19.88

    Thus for the total is 256.96

    There will be some additional nominal costs, but the total cost should be under $300.

    The thing is you will not need to use this all the time on when the water is above 80 deg.

    So during the winter months, I will not need keep the bottle in the boat.

    Drill a hole in the top of the livewell to run the hose thru. Use grommets with the hole thru and it will work like a charm. Will be virtually leak free and not adhesives necessary or caulk stuff for the hole.

    Most air places will not refill aluminum tanks and if they do you will have to drop it off to get your tank refill, this one I just swap and go.

    Make sure that regulator can be turned down enough. I am not familiar with that one, but I have 2 friends that tried a medical regulator and it just put out way too much oxygen on the lowest setting. I can go 25-30 tournaments on one refill. They were not even getting 5 tournaments. 1/32 or 1/16 lpm is ideal.

    Yes it has a dial on the end I think the lowest setting is .5


    • It has flow settings at 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15 Liters Per Minute plus off.

    1/2 is a lot. Unless I get to around 20lbs in there I use 1/32. When the water is warm it is not going to harm them with the excess oxygen, you are just going to go through it pretty fast.
