    KC to Minn for Smallies

Hey guys, looking to drive up from KCMO to catch some Smallies in Mid-Sept. Been planning on Mille Lacs, just wondering if that's my best option? I really don't want to travel much further north due our group of 10 heading that way. What advice could you give this novice??? BTW, we catch tons of smallies in the 13-18inch class at Table Rock all the time. Looking for some better fish. Thanks!!

Mille Lacs can get tough at that time of year, but that's probably your best bet for catching giants. Without heading further north, that's definitely the best option.

Are many of the resorts on millacs still being bass snobs? Any places to avoid for sure?

Haven't been up for a while around any of the resorts, but I wouldn't count on it changing. Saving the rant, I'd instead try to focus on the places that promote smallmouth. McQuoid's is at the top of the list for places that really promote it, so that'd be the first place I'd look personally.

List of supporting businesses in the area and don't be afraid to submit memberships for yourself and the rest of your party if making the drive up!

A group of friends and i went up to Mille Lac for memorial day week.. Stayed at a place called The Red Door on the north shore.
the have a huge 3 or 4 bedroom cabin that can hold 7 or 8 people easy..
launch ramp right there at the resort.

We stay at the casino a lot of times if it’s just the guys. Special boat parking with outlets/security, room service, food 24/7 and a landing across the road. Never been an issue but it’s not that going to a cabin feel... it’s business. Eat, sleep, fish, repeat. Still plenty of bass snobs but they’re Minnesota nice
September can be tough as stated but later in the month can be good as things cool down.

Don't know much about the resorts, but its a great place to catch big ones & if it gets too windy, there are small lakes in the area that have good smallies in them as well

Stacey King can't catch them all the time on Table Rock. You must be very good.

I just got back from Trout Lake East of Grand Rapids. A 15 minute drive. Lots of big smallies there. Caught a boatload 3 to 5 1/2 lb. Tons of Huge Walleyes in there as well. Just a thought.
