Where can I purchase minnows in South Hill early in the morning???

My dad wants to fish Gaston for crappie and he wants to be on water at 5am. At 87 he still likes to fish.

Where are you planning on fishing? I know of a couple places on Gaston.

Triangle grocery at 58 and Rt 4 has small and mediums and opens at 5am. About 4 miles out of your way.

I use a 3 gallon water cooler from Agri supply. I Buy minnows in Chester before hand. Just ask them to add more water for keeping overnight. When you get where you are going, Slowly add some river/lake water to let the temp change gradulally. They don't like going from 72 store temp to 85 river water.

Very nice! Love to see those corks. Looks like fun. How was the fishing?

Your old 997 is still going strong on my boat. Lots of crappie around Dutch Gap too, if your dad doesn't want to make a long trip or up for a shorter trip. If he wants to go, shoot me a note and I will give any recent info I have.

Yes love to see corks disappearing under water. Fishing was good. Biggest crappie was 1.5 lbs.
Talked to a local at ramp and he said water has been released for 3 weeks more than normal and that the fishing pattern is off. Glad the 997 is going strong. The 997 and 1187 are true workhorses and can rack up 1000 hours and still run strong. Had the 1197 and at time of sale it had 2,900 hours.
Long trip for him at 87 closer trip is easier on him. I will keep that in mind for Dutch Gap .

yes, with all the rain, they have been releasing water more often than not. Here you can see the level below the dam.
