What is the material on the underside of the storage compartments and rod locker lids? Looks like it might provide a little better seal?

I want two power poles. What’s the difference in the transom that allows the new one to have two vs one in the 2018s and older?

Nice that they have some type of insulation under the lids now. Nice boat!

there's a guy that does small boat builds on youtube. i want to say that he uses windshield visors under the hatch doors to insulate. i watched a video of his redoing an old tracker, and he said it made a huge difference in compartment temps.

I have to laugh at Brent mentioning how how would mount Talons on the jack plate while this particular boat has two Power Poles. Guess we know who Brent gets some sponsorship money from. The insulation on the lids is nice and should be easy to add to RT188's. I wonder how much difference it makes in the temperature in compartments and what you really gain by adding it to storage compartments? I think it is a response to Vexus having painted lids that look good.

The front end of the pad hull sits too much like a Tracker 195. It might ride better but I bought it to fish from. I actually ride maybe 5 percent of the time or even less. Even being a Ranger, I would think hard before buying it over the standard 188, especially being a new hull. The RT188 is a proven design for several years now.

I've also noticed a sort of high bow in the photos I've seen of the New Vexus 1880/1980 boats, Of all the pad hull boats I've seen photographed on the water the LUND Renegede series seem to sit very level on the water.

Just like the 198p is 19 feet 4 inches, I think it has something to do with the set back transom.

So essentially it's a pad hull version of the 178, and the 198 is pad version of 188?

i will say, I thoroughly enjoy fishing out of the 198. I'm fortunate enough to have a friend that gives me free reign to his boat when I visit him a few hours from home. All I have to do is bring tackle with me. I'll be using it this coming weekend.

Just incase anyone else is trying to figure out the difference between the 198p and the 188p I contacted ranger and this is what they told me. The 198p is 8in longer on front deck and 4 inches longer on the aft deck.

Do the aluminum pad hull boats all tend to sit higher in the water at the bow? I like the layout and bigger rear storage of the 188P better than the 188. If the 188 sits and fishes more level in the water then I would prefer that over the storage/layout. Would like to have the 188p layout with the 188 fishability.

I never understood some peoples big deal with how the bow sits. If the nose sits a few inches higher it does absolutely nothing to the fishability of the boat its a tin youre gonna get blown around period. If i liked the layout better of the p model the fact that it may sit a few iches higher at the bow would certainly not be the reason i settle on layout
