I had her out on the water today. With my wife and I we hit 58mph. I was hoping for a little more speed but didnt want to take it over 5800 rpm's. Might look at some prop option down the road. It gets on plane in 2-3 seconds so not worried about bottom end if I go to a different prop. Handled the rough water just fine and never chine walked at all. My old Stratos would start chine walking around 53mph.

Great boat.. keep working on your setup.. there’s more performance to be found. Do you get any extra set back on that motor?

It has a manual jack plate but I haven't played with it yet.

I have the same boat as you with the 150HO g2 and it will run 56-57 with partner and tournament load with fuel and livewells. It will run 59-61 with just myself. My stock Raker HO prop (24p) would not carry a load when I first got the boat, it struggled to break 50 with two adults in the boat because it had no bow lift, it was fine light but terrible with a load. I sent the prop to Mark Croxton with details of what the boat was doing and it was completely different boat after I got the prop back. You can feel the boat get on its pad around 48-50mph now and then the gps numbers climb from there. I would expect your boat will run close to 70 once you get things sorted out and out of the break in period. I have had my best all around results at 3.5" prop to pad. Hope this helps.

From the bass boat setup forum:
    http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread....ferrerid=39498

It sounds like you are not getting the boat fully up on the pad. Looking down behind the boat, at full speed you should have just a few inches of the boat in the water. Either you are too deep in the water [engine-wise], or you have too small a prop, or something like that. Also, some guys with the G2 engine and Raker HO prop have found that their engine runs much freer with the vent holes wide open. I’ll bet that yours are completely shut. Personally, I haven’t seen a lot of difference on my G2, but I have never run it with vents less than 1/2 open, and it runs fine with them wide open. Just some more thoughts...

Get a few hours on her before you start playing with props or set up, I wouldn't even start until I got 15 to 20 hours on her because the more hours the engine has she will loosen up some. Seen this many many times on new rigs, just need some time!!!!!!!

Went out by myself today and hit 62mph at 6000 rpm on Evinrude smart gauge. Only half way trimmed but I hit 6000rpm so did not want to go higher. I'm going to keep tweaking things. I think I may try a 25p prop.

Sounds like you are headed the right direction. Since, as you say, you purchased the boat from a very small dealership, they may not know much about setting up bass boats. But if everything was completely cut and dried, where’s the adventure in that?
