This is just the tip of the iceberg with Chicago's way of handling the justice system. 2 weekends ago, numerous arrests were made for illegal gun charges. All I can say is that I happy and content knowing that this way of life is not prevalent in my area. Hope some of you can say the same.

Double jeopardy is if you are prosecuted for a crime (which he was not) and cleared, you cannot be prosecuted for that crime again - but there are exemptions.

this is the last - a new scope. This is a special prosecutor investigating the conditions that led to the charges being dropped, not actually directly investigating Smollett. If new evidence arises against Smollett in this investigation, he can in fact be tried again.
I really believe that race had little to do with the charges being dropped- the decisions were about $$$$. I think producers and hollywood big wigs had a couple important backroom meetings ( Chicago's favorite kind of meeting) with the right people (which I would bet my bottom dollar included some union folks - the unions run chicago from the shadows) and they had this whole thing squashed.
