    switch box

1999 200hp efi s/n 0g8866278 Motor started missing at idle or low speed found number 3 and number 6 is not firing, switched wires from other coils and the problem followed the wire, Is their anyway to check a switch box without using a digital meter. Also will a bad oil alarm module cause a switch box to fail.

    thanks bob west

problem fixed, doing some wiring checks for loose wire or connection, found wire from trigger to outer switch box broken, it was inside insulation, repaired ad motor runs fine. still need to fine a oil alarm module.

Good catch! For future reference, your only "test" would have been to switch the switchboxes (if problem moved with the switchbox, it would have been the switchbox).

Of course- they are replaced in PAIRS.

Hello Bob, I'm still troubleshooting a low speed problem, how did you determine plugs weren't firing?
Thanks for posting the resolution, so often folks do not amd we never know what the true cause was or if it got solved!

used timing light connected to each plug, it will show if the plug is firing, also if you have one that is not firing you can switch wires (not plug wire) form a good plug to the one that is not firing and it will show if you have a bad coil.
