Swipe right on the menu bar to close it. Also there is a setting somewhere to get it to auto close after a period of time. If you havnt found the setting or someone else hasnt explained where it is, I will lead you to it once I get out in the boat later today.

Yes, but you have to kind of hold your finger down on it and swipe to the right. It takes a few times to get used to the finger pressure that will allow the swipe.

Like Donnieg said hold menu key, then can bring it back whenever you want, hold menu gone again. easy!
