    So I bought a kayak

Got a really good deal on a Ascend 128T, now I start adapting it to me and vice versa. I accept all helpful hints on what are priorities.

Congrats. I've had mine for nearly 6 years. Great kayak, very stable. Turns like a battleship. Recommend you get a rudder. Also I put 2 foam pad rollers (like the kind you would use for your back) inside on the side of the kayak to better support my weight when standing. I also built my own rod holders out of pvc pipe. This pic isn't mine...but mine is identical, just a shorter span.

Thanks, rudder was on my list. Good ideal about the foam rollers.

Congratulations, no experience with that particular kayak, but there are a LOT of kayak fisherman in our area.

Maybe be I’ll see you on the water sometime.

My suggestion is simple. Take it out fishing a half dozen times. Then, do what you need. Don't start putting things on and later find out they weren't needed, or you put them in the wrong place.

Wow, took it on maiden voyage today. I got a lot of learning to do. In my defense had fast current and shallow water. I did catch fish and didn't turn over so I'm calling it a win.

Good for you. Maiden voyages in difficult conditions can turn some guys off. Glad it didn't for you. Calm waters; an anchor trolley; a drift chute; a stick anchor... can all make kayak fishing a dream.
