Ranger 178 VS Bow Lift Issue
I have a 2007 Ranger 178 vs, new to me. It has a Yamaha 150 V max with an M 23 prop. The prop is about 4 inches below the pad. At full speed it turns 5000 rpm and runs 51 GPS but there is very little bow lift.
Is this a characteristic of this boat model as some have said, or is it prop issue ??
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

Find a 21m and get the rpms up near 5800 then see what it does.

I appreciate it. I will look on the boards for one.

Do you have a jack plate? If you don't have a jack plate you can't get the motor adjusted to where it needs to be to get more rpms and speed.

I can't use a jack plate and still fit it in my garage.

Sounds like a good reason to buy a new place.

I have a 08 178 vx with a 150 optimax, 22 pitch revolution 4 blade prop. 6 in manual jp with prop 1.5 below pad, with instant holeshot to on plane , 59 mph top end

Sounds like you need to raise your motor some

Without a jack plate putting a lower pitch prop on it will raise your rpm's but you won't go any faster because you can't raise the motor up any more if you don't have the plate to move it away from the stern. If you raise it without the plate it will probably just cause some slip as your rpm's go up.
