Ranger friends,
ive found one I really like and am seriously debating it vs another Puma. Tell me thoughts, we fish 3 a lot so really drawn to the bigger decks on the Ranger. Tell me the good and bad please buds. Also just curious if a passenger console can be added? Thx in advance.

The passenger console can be added to it and you could get it from Ranger or through a dealer.

I have owned 8 Rangers including 3 Z21's. I also have owned Bass Cats. Comparing the 2 the Ranger rides higher in the water. The stern of the BC is very low. The BC will be faster all things equal. The Ranger rides significantly smoother. I also found the Ranger dry in the chop, not as susceptible to current or wind and larger hatch covers.
Most important things about the SHO is hours and where the nearest Yamaha certified mechanic is.

Have owned several of them, and by far my favorite boat
I had a 2010 Z521 that was a great boat, If the motor checks out go for it.

Becareful man...The C boats weren't available in 2011. The Z521 is a great boat. Just know what your getting.
I thought 2011 SHO motors had some issues. I will ask this question in the Yamaha forum.

Crankshaft thrust bearing. Check to see if it had the power head replacement. I had a 2011 sho that had this failure
It has had a new powerhead with 25 hours since the repair. New lower unit as well. Going to run it Sunday. Thx guys for feedback!
Get it jacked completely off the bunks and check it yourself for blistering.
It is a z521 not 521c. I thought that c meant single console which it is. But it’s just a z521.
Blistering?? Is this a real Ranger issue? That scares me, if I stuck to Cats and there are hull defects they are covered for life.
Now im sort of nervous about all of this. I’ll go check it Sunday, drive it and make a decision.

Makes sense and this works for me...
Danny all OEMs (including cats) exclude any gelcoat cracking or blistering in the warranty. Any hull can have them/get them. Too many folks buying a used boats don't find out till after the buy. It's not just a Ranger issue.

There was issues with the 2011 SHO, at one time we had like 8 blown power heads in that year model. Good news is most were recalled and new power heads replaced. I would do my home work on that engine though, boat is good to go though. With that said I have a customer and best friend has a 201 with Merc and 140 hours hes trying to sell, boat perfect condition.
