All terrain tires on boat trailer

I I live off a steep mountain dirt road. The road has big rocks and ruts. I pick up my new Ranger this week and was going to put on Goodyear Endurance. Not sure how tough they are or puncture resistant. That got me thing of maybe putting on an all terrain tire like a bfgoodrich ko tire. Thoughts?

Trailer tires have toughened sidewalls anyway. That is the main difference in a all terrain tire. Agressive tread on a trailer does nothing because it isnt on a drive axle.

Sure those would not help or do anything....But they would look cool, what else matters?

I was just thinking they might be more puncture proof. Should I just stick to trailer tires?

Unless you put an E rated tire on it, I do not think an all terrain is going to be any more puncture proof than a quality trailer tire. Vehicle tires are built with squat and sidewall flex for ride comfort. This lends opportunity for the sidewall to get pinched, punctured or scuffed in rocky terrain. Trailer tires have much less squat and flex in the sidewall. This keeps them from ballooning out to the sides of the tread width. Less comes into contact with the sidewall that way and the sidewall is less likely to be rolled and pinched over the edge of the rim.

Not to mention all terrain tires sometimes get the death wobble and many of them pick up rocks easily and could throw them on your boat.

DW is caused by worn pitman arms, ball joints, or tie rod ends and 99% of the time its only on a solid axle front end. None of those on a trailer. DW would not be an issue. However, it would look kinda goofy on a boat, but that’s my opinion.

I ran all terrain Marathons for years. Never a problem....until last week when one disintegrated taking the fender, fender supports and taillight with it. I had been keeping an eye on it and it was quite old, it might not have been fully inflated, but it did make quite a mess.
