Question for the G2 Experts (Champ, SEAHORSE, etc...)

I had the opportunity to talk with one of our local FLW Pros yesterday as he was home and fished our little club tournament with us, good kid!

He mentioned to me that some of the Pros are having issues with their G2s, which I assume are the high HP end of the spectrum. I didn't ask him to elaborate, but after we left I found myself being curious as to what they are experiencing. He had no reason to make that up or wasn't bashing, it just came up in casual conversation.

Has anyone heard anything of this nature?
I can attest to the fact that I sure LOVE my G2...

It would be a mistake to assume that every bass pro is a genius outboard mechanic and engineer. I also love my G2, and have heard nothing at all about FLW problems. Bryan Thrift, Scott Martin, Clark Wendlant, and a bunch of others seem to be doing very well with their G2 engines.

P.S. I am not a G2 expert. Just a regular guy and 40-year Evinrude veteran.

    You are 100% correct.

I'll tell you what, let's just kill this post as it will just spawn controversy and was no way intended. Can you as one of the Moderators see this to fruition please i.e. remove the post?

Not appropriate for me to moderate over here, but point taken about no need for controversy. We’ve had several recent threads here expressing nearly unanimous positivity concerning the G2. Nothing built by humans is perfect, of course, but with 4 years on the market, if there was an endemic problem, we’d have known long before now.

Well, if anyone was going to have problems, it would be the Pro's. The way they treat those motors is ridiculous! If I ran mine that way, I'd have problems too. Letting a motor idle for 30-40 seconds before (and after) a 20 minute WOT run does a motor a lot of good. Oh...and running them wide open through stumps and across 6" deep mud flats is bad too, but they do it anyway.

Oh geez, not again. This stuff is exactly like politics. The first instinct is to run the competition down, rather than touting the positives of your own “product.”
