There are a number of great lakes in the area, and Clemson University brings great athletics and culture. The cities of NW SC are very nice societies too. You can hit the edge of Atlanta in about an hour from the state line too.
I hate the layout of Boscobel, much better courses in the area. Of course 4 miles from Green Pond isn't much to go on. North, South, East or West of the ramp. Tiger Cove has some great Burgers.
Boscobel is probably one of the tougher courses in the area. I grew up there and if you don’t know where to miss the greens it will eat your lunch! The good thing about Boscobel is the people. Everyday they have a group that shows up around 10:30, throws in $20 and plays a skins game. Sometimes its 15 people, other days 50. It’s a great way to meet people since you will be new to the area.
Other courses are Cobb’s Glen 7,000 yards from the tips but big greens. Brookstone is a relatively young course. Saluda Valley is a short track but fun. Stone Creek Cove don’t waste your time. The Walker Course (Clemson) one of the pricier ones around but it’s pretty good. Furman University has a nice course that can play to 7,000 if you want. Arrowhead Pointe on Lake Russell used to be one of my favorites outside of Anderson.
I don't know where we are, but we are making darn good time.
Golfs??? How do you cook them darn things?
Now Willie and I thought about that one day, and decided deep frying was out... So... I drag out the old fish cooker and we filled the kettle about 1/3 full of that clear liquor that comes in them 1 gallon unmarked plastic jugs out of Sumter county SC. Threw about of dozen of them Golfs in the pan with the liquid.
Well.. We cranked her up and brought her to a good boil. Willie looked at them golfs banging around the pan and declared them DONE! We set the pot off the burner and let it cool down. We both grabbed one and gave it a shot. Dang.. Them darn things were still hard as show leather!
So... Contemplating our next move, I grabbed a strainer and we strained off all the liquid into a couple of mason jars. A quick trip in the house, digging around the fridge I found what I was looking for.. A gallon of good old orange juice! We mixed up that clear liquor about half and half with the OJ and poured it over some mason jars filled with fresh ice. Hot damn.. after 4 of those we didn't care about them golfs anymore!
In all seriousness, welcome to the Upstate of South Carolina! You will enjoy the "Well" and don't forget about Russell, Keowee and Jocassee. We fish Hartwell and Russell year round. Be careful on the lower part of the Hartwell, normally south of I-85 when the lake is down. There are a bunch of unmarked shoals that can ruin your day if your not aware of them!
No fish in that lake. Stick to golf
Great area!
Welcome to S.C., you will love the winters here
.
You living on the lake? I live 8 miles from greenpond up the tugaloo river. Beautiful lake, good people. You'll need to locate the ramps at Lake Russel, and Clarks Hill. Hard to fish Hartwell on the weekends in the summer! It's the most visited lake for recreation this side of the Mississippi. Welcome to the Hood!

Not on the lake. Just off RT 24, Take RT 187 up there about 1 mile. Across from the Water Works Dept.
Id probably be in good shape if I fished out of Green pond every weekend and hiked up and down that hill.

You are not far from Green Pond and a lot of other ramps. All I can say is be careful at some of the others. If you want to go to the lower end of the lake, I recommend using Sadlers Creek St Park. River Forks isn't far from you but it seems like they have a lot of issues with theft there. Portman Marina and Broyles are also pretty good. Get used to romantic fish that chase bluebacks! Right now the fishing isn't great due to the lake being up to normal pool. In my opinion, it's best when the lake is down about 10 feet.
Also, Sadlers Creek BBQ is right down the road and is pretty good.Fruit Punch is also close and not bad, neither is the Mexican restaurant near Hwy 24 and 187.
