Which one?
Pretty straightforward- the minus is that you spend a little money.
The plus: Break-in lubricants are removed and replaced with fresh, removing with them (and the oil filter) most of the metal that wears away from surfaces as the engine is broken in.
This is not a "Required" service. It IS recommended, primarily as an investment in your engine's longevity.

Thanks I am talking to new owner about doing his new Merc. 4/stroke 250 at 20 hours. Now has 2 hours.
Did mine at 20, think Im going to do it again at 40 cause first change showed water in the oil. Curious if its in there again?
I don’t think it’s required but I did mine at 20 hrs and also change lower unit gear oil. Just for piece of mine
