    electrolysis

so on my friends boat I noticed his troll motor prop nut was white ,the clamps that hold his transducer were corroded also . I found some loose wires on his cranking battery, got them tightened . will that fix the problem? Thanks

Not likely. The cause is probably a difference in voltage between the TM lower unit and the outboard lower unit.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.
