18 TRX OWNERS - Ultrex Question

I have read various posts about needing a wedge when using Ultrex on Triton Boats. Is this the case when a Minnkota Ultrex is installed on 18TRX with Mercury 200hp 4 Stroke.

I have a TR-18......not TRX but I didn't need one.

Depends on how much you vertical fish, the ultrex has 3 degrees of backward cant to apply pressure against the mount when in the stowed position. This combined with roughly 5 degrees of downward slope Triton puts on a lot of modern models is sometimes too much for people to drop shot or vertical jig. Most notably Gerald Swindle called attention to it. Some users report having the issue and others claim no issues. As far as the wedge goes there are a couple of manufacturers such as precision sonar and ashmore marine products making one for 100-200 bucks. Others are using trex to make one for a little cheaper.
