Not sure if your are the same as my 04 cougar but I think they would be close. They have a velcro center that pulls out and allows you to get to the screws.

If it's the older bench seats, there are screws through the back, towards the bottom that are a little hard to find, as well as the obvious ones.
I found the screws to get them out
