    2002 Yamaha 150

    I'm looking at a pleasure boat with a 2002 Yamaha 150
    Model: 150TXRB
    Serial: 6G4 X 1001748

I'm looking for some info on this motor. Any recommendations? Quirks? What to look out for? Can anyone give me a motor history report on this motor? I appreciate your help!

See if a Yamaha dealer can do an engine analysis for you and pull any trouble codes on their engine analyzer. They can tell at what speeds the engine has spent its life running.

When Yamaha designed that engine, they really did a great job. They made some changes initially on the F150's, however they're essentially unchanged mechanically since 2007.

The only thing is that the timing belt needs to be changed at around 1000 hours usage. Many owners never hit that point.

If belt has not been done, I would do it. Age is the factor now.
