    Roostertail

Tested out my helix 9 g3 and it’s blowing a roostertail 2 ft high and all over the motor.....leveled the new ducer cuz it was pointing down....what other options can I do? This is on an aluminum boat....I know I’ll have to test it again....I had no readings at speed, depth was like 1000 ft on screen and I was in 10 ft, move everything up? I’ll try and get a pic later

    thanks

Watch this brief video on Leveling a Transducer and try it. Prior to my doing this my Helix Si transducer would not read properly at speed and it also created a roostertail. I have performed this procedure on the last three Helix installs I have done for friends and their units read perfectly at maximum speed without any roostertail.

I would suggest adding a Y cable and separate 2d skimmer transducer. Mount the SI unit up where it is safe and unobstructed.

Agree with Diesel Pro. I did what he said. Works great. Costs a bit more which seems kinda dumb, bit works great and no rooster tail w/ good depth readings on plane.

You have not stated which unit model you have.

XNT 9 HW transducer if you have the DI or SI version.

9 M SIDB Y cable connects the two transducers to the display.

If you have the CHIRP version, you already have the proper 2D skimmer.
