New smaller 2019 G2 Evinrude outboards first post. 1.9L Inline 3 cylinders

NEW Inline 3 cylinder G2 engines. I had heard that there would be a 135HP G2, so would be a shame if it turns out to be a 140HP. Heard they would be out late this summer, so let’s see when they actually show up.

Nice on-the-water review here with photo of one (140 or 150 on a AVX 1880 or 1980):

Makes you think the bump on the 1880 to a 135 limit that they knew something was in the works...

Interesting read here that I found this morning. It looks like new versions will be 115, 140, and 150 HP G2's.

Vexus AVX1980 bass boat featured in 2020 Evinrude promo video. Looking good Vexus & Evinrude!

This is the exact reason why I checked the page. LOL I bet they just rebadge the 140 as a 135HO.

I just watched video again and I'm curious if that's an 1880 with a 140 at the 1.06 mark??

Yes, not sure. It could be a AVX1880...maybe we will find out soon enough. If Vexus is making any changes to their 2020 AVX lineup, I bet they will say something in July or soon after. Maybe a new 2020 promotion is coming with Evinrude since they usually offer the 10 year warranty again in the fall.

The only thing clear is Evinrude is not happy with having only 3.7% of the outboard market. They are aiming at getting a bigger piece of the $20billion mid-range HP segment. Wish I didn’t love my Evinrude G2 150HO so much. It is just an outboard motor after all.

If you pause it just right it is a 115 on the 1880.

That is one well thought out motor that checks all the boxes with features that are just awsome.

Team that up with a Vexus and you'll have one kick a$$ package.

I agree. The 12mpg @ 1000rpm is crazy. I bet my Evinrude 9.8hp from back in the day didn’t get that much gas mileage. We idle looking for fish a lot especially this time of year, so that is a major savings on fuel. My 150HP H.O. G2 already gets great mpg, to think this one would be better means you might only have to refuel every 8th trip instead of every 4th trip. And that is filling it only to slightly above half full.

I love the pin you switch to lock the steering for trailering. A lot of nice features and the 60lb savings in weight on the 150hp. Can’t wait to see how they all perform on the AVX1880 & AVX1980 models. Won’t be long until we see them in the field and on this forum. I’m loving my Evinrude so far. Knock on wood:-)

I agree. I currently use DD26's on my G2. While they work awesome, the new design eliminates the need for them.
