To answer your question, it's a bit subjective so best try each combo and see what you like the look of yourself.
I've found Carbon 18.3-61.1.123 better than .155 so that's what I've used in my tests.

This is my thoughts on the following software combos:
    - Carbon 18.2, SS3D 18.2 <- Too much noise, too coarse and grainy
    - Carbon 18.2, SS3D 18.3 <- My preference for detail/clarity and better contrast for finding fish
    - Carbon 18.3, SS3D 18.2 <- Too much noise, Too coarse and grainy
    - Carbon 18.3, SS3D 18.3 <- Second choice, almost as good detail/clarity once contrast dialed down to about -10
    - Carbon 19.1, SS3D 18.3 <- Its ok but noticeably detail/clarity not as good as Carbon 18.2 or 18.3
    - Carbon 19.1, SS3D 19.1 <- Possible choice if dial contrast up +10. Range looked a bit reduced out to sides though. (Needs further testing to rule out or recommend)
    - Carbon 18.3, SS3D 19.1 <- I haven't tested/ A comment above said it looks quite good, but no screenshots were posted? (Needs testing to rule out or recommend)

If you need livesight you'll have to use Carbon 19.1.
If you just want the new menu structure and good images use 18.3/18.3 and turn contrast down -8 to -10
If you just want the best images Carbon 18.2/ SS3D 18.3 seems to have a very slight edge.

Just my thoughts, I'm still tinkering with all the different software.

Do you have screenshots you can post so we can see/compare? Thanks

Thanks for the Info. Thanks a bunch!!!

If none of y'all have done what Wetaline2 has by providing the information wetaline1 did in post #21 you have no idea what's involved and the time consumed compiling that data. It is a MAJOR PITA. Plus it's risky.... You get a good combination providing good images it's tough to load a different version just to see if you can get it better. You may never get it to work like it did - even if you replicate all the conditions that produced the good images to begin with.

    Thanks again for your contribution!

v19.1 is out for Live, Carbon, SonarHub, and SS3D.

Yeah... stinkin' low life pirates done hijacked this thread!

That comment was relative to the thread header about 19.1 for the SS3D module.

I've tried the Carbon and 3-IN-1 in a peddle Kayak. I've got a Carbon and 3-IN-1 in a 2nd boat but its getting re-wired/re-built so can't test it.
The kayak I have run with 18.3-61.1.123 and works fine, detail looks good (not as good as SS3D, but way better than totalscan), contrast ok on auto.
Might be a while but I'll put the kayak in the water and compare 18.3-61.1.123, 18.3-61.1.133, 18.3-61.1.155, & 19.1-62.1.114 then post what I think.
Until then I think your best choice for Carbon/3-IN-1 would be 18.3-61.1.123 or bite the bullet and see how 19.1 looks/goes.

Thanks a bunch Wetline!! I know what you did took time and energy to compile your data and beyond that....you chose to share it with the folks on this website!!!

Does anyone have 18.3 software link for 3D module? I found 18.2 for Carbon but cannot find a link for 18.3 for 3D module.

Yup... I’ve got it but.... it’s on my PC at the office. If no one gives you a link tonight I’ll do it in the morning.

Updating HDS live units and Structurescan. Is V19.1 still not as good as 18.3? I pulled the .riw file from Doug's dropbox site to upgrade to 18.3 at least.

These updates are hard to keep up with for me...I just got the 3D SS installed and not sure what version it has. I have HDS Gen3 12 at dash and HDS Gen2 touch at bow. They are networked but I use the SS on the 12, and run the 9 off the TM transducer or I get interference from the LSS2 the 9 also uses for DI. My Ghost will be on shortly and will do away with the LSS2 all together and run the 9 off the Ghost. Would the latest updates be fine on the 12 and SS?

Well, I updated the SS3D to 19.1 this weekend, and now my downscan is frozen. I have split screen with SI,DI and 2d set up on it....SI and 2D work great but DI will not work at all, even when used by itself...I guess I may need to roll it back to 18.3? The HDS G3-12 has the latest update on it. Do I need to roll both back?

It should still work. Did you check your DI source.

Yes, and it worked fine weekend before last, but it was on update 57.1.219 which was 2.0 I think...6 or 7 updates behind.
