Reading the other "stupid tube" thread....How has your hook up ratio been using your stupid tube? I have had trouble in the past with a lower hook up ratio than conventional. I was thinking of opening up the hook a little. Ideas?

You should know that in bee tending if you don't shut your trap the bees will get out.
I don't use the stupid tube anymore because of the poor hook up ratio.

What I do. Don't use a stiff walled tube, use a wide gap jig hook. Don't run the hook point through the bottom to top, just long enough around back to skin hook on top. 3.5 inch Berkley tube.
All I can say is SH $++Y..... MISSED SEVERAL in last weekends clubber. Gets bit alot.... lands few
I very seldom lose a fish on a stupid tube. I use a Powell 734 and hit them hard! If I am skipping under docks I use a mh spinning rod and still stick them good. As the tube gets beat up some it becomes easier and easier for good hook sets.I rig it like the original way of doing it,hook thru both sides and skin hooked on top.
