    Evinrude G2 Reliabilty???

I'm purchasing a left over 2018 Ranger Z518C in the morning. It comes with a 200hp G2 with 10 year warranty. Someone told me they have had a lot of problems and that is why they give a 10 year warranty. Is he correct or blowing smoke? Is it a good motor?

    Think about it.

A company would not give a 10 year warranty if they knew the repairs would cost more than what they made on the motor. They give a long warranty because they know that their motor will be reliable enough or they would just be throwing money away.

I have sold literally hundreds of the G2, only problems they had was the first year soft wear updates, once those were updated we have had GREAT luck with the G2. I retired two years ago and I have a G2 on my retirement boat, absolutely love it.......

Of all the dumb ideas I’ve heard in dock talk, the dumbest has to be “they warrant it so long because it’s a terrible engine.” Visit a few of the threads on here that have asked [and been answered] the same question. Not to say that any piece of complicated machinery is 1000% bullet-proof, but if you look closely at all the available evidence, there is no high-output engine on the market with a better reliability record, and the features and performance of the G2 put it in a class of its own. Whether I’m buying a truck or a boat, little minor things are going to pop up eventually. So long as they don’t strand me someplace and cost me little to nothing to fix, I’m happy. The main issue is whether day to day I’m going to enjoy the performance of my choice, and the G2 makes me grin every time out.

P.S. See below: “oh.my.god” and “would you do it again.”

Had my G2 300 for about 18 months now. Other than a fault key switch that was immediately replaced, I've had no problems and would not hesitate to run another one.

    Love it!

What is the top end speed of your Lynx with 300 G2? Awesome setup!

That’s going to be a shock to the system, coming out of a Z117. Hope your hat is tight. Congrats!

Well that’s disappointing. My Ranger Z520 with a G2 250 HO will do that.

Is the Lynx suppose to be a light, fast hull like an Allison or Gambler? Otherwise, I don't see much to be disappointed by as I'm sure you know a HO can do 10% over stickered HP so he only has 25 horses on you.
