What does everyone like for snaps/rings for crankbaits? I've tried several but valley hill keeps coming to the top!

Owner Hyper Wire
Anyone tried the decoy egg ring?
Are you using 2's or 3's?
Owner hyper wire, as well.

I read a blog that a guy really liked the hyper wire but it wasn't cost effective. It said he went to barlow's and bought 100 count for about $6 but to be sure it had "spring" in the definition. The stainless would stay open once putting them on where as the "spring steel" would return to normal. Anyone have insight on this?
Hitena is my pick. They have options that are even stronger than Owner Hyper Wire, believe it or not.
The regular stainless ones you'd want the #45 variety to get slightly smaller than the Owner Hyper Wire #3 with a little more strength (50 vs 45 lb) at a little cheaper price (same price for 16 vs 14 rings).
The stainless alloy ones are the strongest ones I've ever seen, with that #45 coming in with a break strength of 80 lbs. They're more expensive, but if you want the best, there it is.

Good info
Just to follow up, I checked my hyper wires and I'm using 1s for baits with size 8 trebles and 2s for size 6 and 4.

If you're looking for the best split rings, Hyper Wire are the way to go. They run around $5 for a 12 to 16 count, depending on the size, so it's unlikely the blog writer was testing those if he said he bought a 100 for $6. You're correct that spring steel is the way to go if you're building lures. Stainless steel split rings are far more likely to stay "sprung" if over expanded.
